Humanity must make the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Doing so will result in huge physical changes to our surroundings – not only wind turbines in the North Sea and homes without gas connections but also new smart grids and heat networks.
Energy marks the landscape
The generation and distribution of renewable energy will necessitate a new infrastructure above and below ground. Building it will require the expertise of designers, city planners, urban developers and other spatial-design professionals. Pakhuis de Zwijger will hold a discussion on the subject, Energie tekent het landschap (“Energy marks the landscape”), on Wednesday 14 June.
Linking multiple challenges and aims
How is Posad tackling this huge task? Taco will explain in a brief pitch based on our research into the energy transition in the Amsterdam metropolitan region. We believe the transition should be linked to other challenges and aims. For instance, Amsterdam faces a huge challenge around housing. Are the city’s planned expansion sites in the right places? Join us at Pakhuis de Zwijger to hear what we think!
