The Procession’ was winner of the Open Call of the Flemish Government Architect. The design provides an answer to cluttering of Nazareths village landscape, and aims to reinvigorate the central square as compass for the village and its surroundings; strongly anchored in historical layers and functional to the needs of residents, visitors, commerce and functions on and around the square.
Several functions locate along the square but functionally make little contact. Better connections can enrich the square and its use. The public domain is redesigned as a family of closely related spheres, and offers plenty of space for temporary use. Precise detailing and materialisation provide for the subtle interweaving of parking with the public domain and the restoration of historic elements.
Realization starts in the spring of 2015.
