Posad was commissioned by the municipality of Eindhoven and the Dutch State Architect to establish a strategy to improve the north side of Eindhoven Central Station on a short term.
With a new north exit being delivered in 2016, the north side is in need quality improvements. What can be achieved in the short term that doesn’t stand in the way of more rigorous the long-term improvements? Stakeholders (NS Real Estate, TU Eindhoven, Rabobank, etc.) request better and more pleasant pedestrian connections to the station. By freeing walkingroutes of car traffic and adding a square and a new crossing a huge step can be made in the short term of the transformation to a nice station area. With the short-term actions the first steps are made to a network of slow traffic, which on the long run can expand. The municipality of Eindhoven is preparing to carry out the plan in 2017.
