Strategic research-by-design study to determine a new vision on the Dutch national roads. The national government is responsible for construction and maintenance of ‘national’ roads. However, from mobility perspective some regional roads are of great national importance, while for some roads monitored by the government the ‘national value’ is less identifiable. The study developed various scenarios to determine the national interest of roads, how can be dealt with maintaining these – or new roads – and what planning principles could be used for each scenario.
Posad developed and substantively supported the scenario’s and elaborated illustrative maps with the major considerations, indicators and consequences of each scenario. GIS was extensively used as quantitative foundation for the scenario’s.
