Plan ‘Brik’ won a price for the most bicycle friendly neighborhood of the Netherlands. The plan was developed for Pendrecht and Zuidwijk; one off Rotterdams poorest neighborhoods. In the Netherlands, poor neighorhoods are often the least connected to the innercity and workplaces.
Brik combines a sophisticated network of bicycle paths with a network of bicycle stalls, which are more than just that; they house economic space for starting businesses and become beacons of light at night. The Briks generate mobility for the inhabitants, gives an economic impulse to the neighborhood and make it safer at night.
