The city of The Hague has commissioned Posad to produce urban planning studies and frameworks for the Binckhorst, a former industrial site on the city’s southeast side. The municipality is currently reassessing its approach to the area.
The Binckhorst has the potential to develop into part of the city centre. It is one of the few remaining areas where The Hague can still densify through the addition of new residential and commercial zones. The Binckhorst has exceptionally good transport links, being within walking distance of the Den Haag HS, Voorburg, and Laan van NOI public transport hubs and crossed by the new road Rotterdamsebaan.
One of our tasks is to develop ideas for improving the Binckhorst’s connections with other parts of the city (such as the Central Innovation District). We are also helping The Hague’s urban planning department to draw up development frameworks for the various subareas. We are working with the area’s existing identity and prioritising healthy urbanisation and sustainable energy use.
